I lunge my miss Dragon for 30 minutes a day weeks in advance of an upcoming show, and still comes out like a fire breathing dragon – all I do is laugh because if I cry I will start loosing my mind and want to go homes
Tips for a 9 year old thoroughbred off the teacher ( 2 years ago nearly ) to help her calm her nervous – also she hates floats – any advice 🤞🥹🌸🤍

Oh Samii, we’ve all been there!
It honestly is time and lessons! Exposing her to more and more and that trust you get over time.
I’d just start small and build from there.
My thoroughbred bucked me off every ride for a year! I was young so it was ok but as we get older we need to be more cautious and so take your time.

The harsh reality is if you dont want to be dealing with this then dont have a thoroughbred.
That being said if you are committed to this horse it is time, giving the horse good experiences, building a relationship, gaining knowledge.

That being said if you are committed to this horse it is time, giving the horse good experiences, building a relationship, gaining knowledge.
Here are some tips:
Treat every day like show day: horses respond to routine, so tying up, giving a haynet, using the same brushes, products etc
Take your horse our for lessons – this gives your horse an outing with the bonus of gaining new skills and help along the way
Work your horse well before going out, a tired horse is a happy horse
Learn how to lunge correctly
Control your own nerves, be organised, be early, keep your own energy low and calm
Be prepared for the long haul – this will take time and every horse is different
Celebrate the small wins – every little improvement is a win, even getting your horse to eat and drink while out is a breakthrough
Remember what the thoroughbred is made for and see the world through their eyes – the fire breathing dragon was purpose bred to be just that!
