Dorrigo Show 2025: Country Spirit, Welsh Ponies & Rodeo Thrills
There’s something special about a country show — the dust, the laughter, the smell of leather and livestock, and the unmistakable rhythm of rural Australia on full display. Discovering Dorrigo
Nestled on the lush plateau of the New England region along the scenic Waterfall Way, Dorrigo sits inland from Coffs Harbour. Known for fertile farmland, rolling green hills and nearby rainforest treasures like Dorrigo National Park, the region provides a picturesque backdrop that perfectly complements the heritage atmosphere of its annual show.
The showground itself is a classic country venue — open arenas, livestock areas, produce pavilions, and grandstands that echo with decades of community memories.
Success in the Ring: Welsh Ponies Shine
This year’s show was especially memorable for us.
My pony Gee competed beautifully in the breed classes in hand before going on to be awarded Supreme Led Exhibit of the Show, proudly sponsored by the Woodland Family and McGregor Goulay Produce. It was a moment that reflected not only presentation and preparation, but the partnership built over countless quiet hours at home.
Kathryn and her pony Angelo enjoyed outstanding success across the ridden and jumping rings. They were crowned Champion Hunter Pony and delivered strong performances in the showjumping events, ultimately earning the title of All Round Winners.
Their results once again proved what Welsh pony lovers have always known — Welsh ponies truly are the perfect horse for everyone, combining elegance, athleticism, temperament, and versatility.
Ringside Comfort & Country Hospitality
One of the simple pleasures of Dorrigo Show is the welcoming atmosphere. The Ladies Auxiliary provided a wonderful lunch, and with picnic tables set ringside, it was the perfect place to relax, catch up with friends, and watch the day unfold in the ring.
These small touches are what give country shows their warmth and sense of community.
The Rodeo: A Crowd Favourite
A major drawcard of the show is the rodeo, bringing high-energy excitement and classic country entertainment. As the sun sets and the lights come on, the arena comes alive with:
